Cosmic Air started its operations from 1997, as a domestic airline based in Katmandu, Nepal. It initially operated two MI 17 Helicopters, later upgraded in 1998-99 to Dornier 228 aircraft and further in 2000-01 to two SAAB 340 aircraft. It was then quite a feat as Cosmic Air was the first airline to introduce second-generation turbo prop aircraft with pressurized cabin for domestic flights. In October 2004 the first Fokker 100 Jet Aircraft was added to the fleet.
Cosmic Air has revolutionized the domestic operations by introducing jet aircraft since November 2004 on its trunk routes, which were previously operated by turbo prop aircraft for the last 35 years.
Cosmic Air then expanded in a phenomenal fashion by operating regional flights to India and Bangladesh with its twice-daily flights to Delhi and five weekly flights to Dhaka. It is the first private Nepalese airline to operate International flights.
